DJI Ronin SC as photo gimbal at the balloon glow in Ulm

At the end of the Schwörwoche in Ulm there is the annual balloon glow at the beginning of twilight.

Time to test the new DJI Ronin SC as a photogimbal.

I already used the DJI Ronin S more for photography than for filming. The devices balance movements up to the Z-axis so well that you can shoot sharp pictures at night even with low ISO values (ISO 100-500 and exposure times of 1s).

I think that the little brother of the DJI Ronin S does his thing very well too. The low weight is still a highlight for me and makes the work super pleasant.

The only disadvantage is that the gimbal gets “problems” with some positions when zooming with the lens and the thus shifted center of gravity in connection with my Canon EF 24-70mm f/1:4L IS USM lens. He still does his job very well, but you can hear that the motors are working very well. They hum a bit. But the trick is to calibrate the gimbal to a half zoomed lens. So the differences in the center of gravity from wide angle to zoom are not so big anymore and the device can handle all situations without any conspicuousness.

Taken with a Canon EOS 6D Mark II and Canon EF 24-70mm f/1:4L IS USM and DJI Ronin SC as photo gimbal.
